Welcome to Wellspring Edmonton

Wellspring Edmonton is the dream of a dedicated and growing group of volunteers who are working to make it a reality. By 2012, we expect to open the doors to a cancer wellness centre that will provide the practical, emotional, physical and spiritual supports that most people need when faced with a cancer diagnosis. Once built, Wellspring Edmonton will become part of an existing network of 14 community-based Wellspring centers across Canada.

Wellspring Edmonton will be a warm, welcoming, home-like environment where people are supported to live well during and beyond cancer. Our doors will be open to anyone diagnosed with any type of cancer, at any stage, along with their families, friends and caregivers. Wellspring Edmonton programs will be available free of charge, delivered by professionals and trained volunteers – most of whom have experienced cancer and want to help others on their journey. It will be a place where people can connect with others who know what they are going through – because they have been there themselves.

Every day in Alberta, 41 people are diagnosed with cancer. In the next 20 years, that number is expected to jump to 80 people per day. While medical care for cancer patients in Alberta is among the best in the world, most people need more than treatment. They need help to heal from the crisis of body, mind and spirit that comes with a cancer diagnosis. They need a Wellspring of support…
